A Wasatch Woman that is.
We did it and we had a great time!
Let's start with Diva Night. Not too cool. We waited for over an hour in a long, snakey line just to get our shirts (only had small and medium left...which is great for some, not the right size for others), timing chips and numbers. Next year they'll do better (just being a little optimistic here)
This was the best part of Diva Night. We went to the Olive Garden for a nice pasta, salad, and bread stick dinner! YUM!Here we are, bright and early, before the race. Jill, Jeanette, me, Lindsay (Rachael's sister), Rachael and Camille. Don't we look happy and refreshed?
This is me crossing the finish line, just like I said I would. That ice cream sandwich was really refreshing.
(This picture may or may not have been staged)
Tired, sweaty, red-faced and happy it's over.

Just a few tidbits. Jeanette, the over achiever, who was way ahead of us, missed the turn off to the finish line and ended up running another mile and a half! Camille pushed both girls in a double stroller during the race. It looked very inviting.
I came in 7th in my age group! Woo-hoo! It's great to be old!
How as that Fat Boy? Worth the running? Hey, I was mucho proud of you today, Miss C! And dare I ask how many were in your age group?
ReplyDeleteYou Langston ladies are something else!
How WAS the Fat Boy?
ReplyDeleteHooray for you. Way to go. (Love the ice cream sandwich pic--staged or not ; )
ReplyDeleteOne day I'll run a race--once I'm not panting so hard.
I am so proud of you my friend!! You look awesome and you didn't just lay around and watch TV all summer either. What about all those apricots? You did something :) You had to have to come in 7th in your age group. Poor Jeanette, I hope someone gave her two ice cream sandwiches! And wow, Camille, two kids in a stroller? You rock too.
ReplyDeleteKaren, that Fat Boy was muy bien! It's a good thing it was a junior size, otherwise it would have undone all my running this morning!
ReplyDeleteThere were 63 women in my age group! You thought I was going to say 8, right?
Yvonne, people think I'm dying when they see how red my face is and hear me panting. In fact, I heard other people panting too! You can do it!
Gigi, we couldn't figure out where Jeanette was and we were starting to get worried about her. When we found out what had happened, we all felt bad for her but she took it in stride and came across the finish line with a big smile on her face.
I'm shocked that Jeanette ran a 5k! Did she do a lot of training while on the mission?...and she even ran an extra 1 1/2 miles! WOW! Good Job guys! Wish I could have done it with you!
ReplyDeletemmmm. Olive Garden..
ReplyDeleteGood thing to stock up on those carbs before the run! :)
(Have you seen that office episode?? Hilar! )
Way to go! You finished!!
Icecream sandwich and all!!!
WAY TO GO!! Seriously, I'm impressed. I couldn't have done this in a million years. I love how you finished with a Fat Boy in hand and in mouth I guess to!
ReplyDeleteTake it easy the next couple days.
Sandra

ReplyDelete(hey? Did I miss something? I mean...what or who is the FAT boy that everyone is talking about? haha)
Hmmm... maybe if I wait til I'm 90 to do my first race...I'll have a chance...and wait, I might even come in First! whoo-hoo! (I used to run ages and ages ago in high school, cross country! believe it or not! Actually, I find it hard to believe!)
Thank goodness, our 3 will run and our second daughter has done a 3 miles or a 3K in 19 minutes. I was quite happy to be at the end doing the picture taking :o)
