In Honor....

This day we honor our veterans: the brave, the strong, the determined, the freedom fighters - because freedom isn't free!

        My Grandfather (Frank Travis)

My Dad (Bill Travis)

This is the new generation of soldiers: handsome, determined, brave, sons, brothers. Many will be away from home and family during the holidays.

Pvc Jordan Travis Langston with sister, Camille - trying to look "Army tough".

Mr. Cy, not looking tough at all, just cute!

My thanks to all who sacrifice their time, their comfort and even their lives to preserve our freedoms.  Let us remember and honor them!

  1. Connie,
What a sweet post! You are right, we should never forget the sacrifices that are made for freedom.
My dad is active in the American Legion, (he's the Commander of his Post). He and my mom are very patriotic. I am trying to get him to find his pictures from his Navy days...I think he was quite dashing, my mom thinks he looks drunk! :)

  4. There is never enough thank you's for the brave men and women who sacrifice so much for our country. Or for their mom's who are left to worry!

The pictures are priceless. A family that serves their country!!

My nephew is in a boat somewhere, where he can't say. Just today my sister emailed me the address to send him his Christmas card and small care pkg.

Thank you for such a beautiful post.

  6. I have a great uncle that went to Korea, but that's all I know of in my family. I think we are all too short. :)

I do appreciate all of those men and women who sacrifice time with family, personal comfort and everything else to protect and serve.

  7. You never realize/appreciate what really goes into serving in a war until it's someone you know. Thanks for putting it into perspective for me. And I'll be honest, I'm a little escared for Jordan - if he's ever deployed. It's very admirable and noble to serve their country, but it still scares me...

  8. This makes me a little teary-eyed. I never really thought about soldiers very much until I recently started doing a little research on WW II. Those soldiers are amazing and it's important to remember them and appreciate them.
