Let's start with a recipe for soft, fluffy, delicious, sugar cookies in the shape of hearts!
Sugar Cookies
1/2 cup butter
1 3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tablespoon baking powder
5 cups flour
2 c. sour cream (I used low-fat)
2 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter, sugar and eggs together. Add dry ingredients. Add sour cream and vanilla. Mix well. Place in refrigerator for at least an hour. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut in desired shapes. Bake 350 degrees for 11-13 minutes. Let cool and frost with your favorite frosting.
I offered the frosted, morsels of goodness to my 18 year old. He asked, suspiciously, "Did you put anything healthy in 'em?" I assured him there was nothing healthy and he eagerly ate some.
Speaking of healthy and heart.

The sugar cookies may not be good for the heart, but running for a good cause is!
Jake knows you too well - but it's Dan's frosting he needs to watch out for (bananas!) :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, sometimes we make unhealthy sacrifices for a good cause (i.e. cupcakes for Haitian kids...) I'll see you at the starting line!
LOVE the question!!...Is there anything healthy in them?!! Now, that's my kind of question!! By the way, the cookies look DELISH!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSilly, but I have a tough time making sugar cookies. (It's the rolling out and using the cookie cutter that is my problem.) Maybe I'll give these a try.
ReplyDeleteI would love to participate in the run. Good luck and have a great time.
You just posted one of my ALL time favorite foods. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteThey look SCRUMPTIOUS.
What cute cookies. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was fun seeing you Saturday. Too bad it was so crowded and I didn't get to see you afterward. I didn't want to talk much in between baptisms. Such amazing music there, huh?
Those cookies look divine! And after eating them, I would need to go running for sure! Come say hi :D
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE sugar cookies. OKAY really, what cookie don't I like?? Raisin..yep maybe just raisin. ANd I'm always happy to try a new recipe.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that run. AUGH...I wish I was a runner. I'm a sitter. Wish I was a runner though.

ReplyDeleteYummy looking cookies. I just might try making them for my young adults.
ReplyDeleteDo you mind sharing the frosting recipe?
Good luck on the run. I sure do admire you for running.
LOVE sugar cookies and that photo sure had my mouth watering.
ReplyDeleteI used to make them all the time with the grand kids----messy!! but so worth it.
not necessarily just the cookies --but the time spent together.
My sister is always trying to "put something" healthy into her stuff too.
She is on this kick of putting Zucchini in everything.
Connie, you sweet thing, thanks for your visit to my blog. These cookies look so scrumtious. And I am sooooo impressed about the March runs for the Red Cross.Ya know anybody that supports the red cross is supporting desasters all over the world. Red cross goes everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThere was a call for quilts and blankets, t-shirts and pants, for a plain that goes back and forth to Haiti. They are planing some rebuilding projects, so flights will be going back and forth from St. George for quit awhile.
Are you close to Farmington so that you can come to the bloggers luncheon next tuesday, 16th at 12 noon, 1492 W shepard lane. Oakridge country club! Hope so!

Mmmmmm. I will be making my sugar cookies this week too.
ReplyDeleteRun? Hmmmm.
Hi Connie,
ReplyDeleteIt's me again. I just talked to my daughter Valerie and she told me that the print I won has arrived. I know you had something to do with that and I thank you. I really appreciate it.
Thanks again for doing that. It's really going the extra mile.
Hugs, Natalie
Connie!! You forgot to ask for my address so that you could overnight those babies to me!
ReplyDeleteHave your people call my people.
This was a great post....and I loved the healthy heart graphic too!
I am a sugar cookie love and LOVE to make them as well.
ReplyDeleteI am always fascinated with recipes too. I am noticing this is real similar to mine, only yours calls for 2 cups sour cream and 1/2 cup butter and mine calls for 1 cup butter and 1 cup sour cream.
Your cookies look absolutely delicious and I'm sure your family LOVED eating them as well!
Happy "Valentine Week"!
