There's an old saying that goes something like this: "The only thing constant in life is change."
There have been some changes that affect me lately. Here are just a few.
This is a classroom void of children, noise, excitement, and learning. As we say farewell to our students in this classroom, we know that we may not see many of them again. These students come from all over our city; this is not their home school.
We have had the best principal in the district. He was told a few weeks ago that he won't be coming back to our school. His new assignment is elsewhere. Everyone is sad to lose him and wonder who the next principal will be who has to fill his shoes! We said farewell to him on the last day.
Today was the funeral for sweet Jenny. We said "farewell" to her through talks, music, and tears. Her parents and sisters spoke. A lot of strength on their part. She will be missed by many!
This is Iris Island! At the beginning of spring it's called "Tulip Triangle" and during the summer it's "Petunia Peninsula!" It's a geographical oddity! These Irises are ready to pick and use as a token to say to our loved ones who have passed on, "We may have said farewell but that doesn't mean we have forgotten you!"
I wish I could say farewell to these extra 25 pounds I seem to have adopted!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all of you!
Bummer about losing such a great principal! And the end of the year always brings with it a certain sadness when letting go of the kids... as well as the hope that they will become everything they can be someday, and the hope that you helped make that happen. That you convinced them they are lovable and capable and smart. Happy beginning of summer! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't do well with change. I wish I did. Once changed though I learn quickly to adapt. I hope you like your new changes next school year. It's great you get to stay with the same speech therapist. That will make it easier.
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday weekend and a great start to your summer.
Change is always hard, but hopefully it will be a "good thing" in the end.
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers!
Wish I could say farewell to my extra pounds too, now that would be a GOOD change!! ;-)
You will be busy next year. Glad you know that you have a job. I have to wait each year until right before the school year starts.
ReplyDeleteLove your flowering peninsula!
Extra 25lbs, I found about 35 this year. There is always so much yummy food in our teachers lounge.
A lot of changes here...the end of the school year does that to everyone doesn't it. Moving on tho bigger and better things! Yes, I wish the same thing about the 25 pounds but I think they are here to stay! Come say hi :D
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a lot of stuff. :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting~ you have lots of fun, new opportunities ahead.
I listened to Jenny's services today. Very beautiful and touching.
Have a great weekend...
A good Principal can make all the difference. I learned that the hard way.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the changes. Hope they are all for the good.
Sorry to hear about Jenny's death.
Lots of change, but it all sounds like forward moving change.
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day!

Connie! What an adorable blog! I love it. CBC was so much fun!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is true, that the most constant thing in life is CHANGE! Change is always bitter-sweet.
ReplyDeleteIt is SUCH a sad time to say farewell to teachers, kids and friends!!
I had an emotional week myself last week as Jade is moving on to High School and the people that have helped him in Resource Room will be greatly missed. You don't realize how important people are in your life until you have to say good-bye and you know you may not see them again.
LOVE your Geographical Oddity....it sounds like it brings gorgeous beauty every season of the year!!
I have such fond memories of going to our grandmas house and cutting Iris's and going and putting them on the graves on Memorial Day.
That is a parent's worst nightmare to lose a child!! So sorry to hear about this and I am going to give my kids a big hug and kiss and "I love you"!! How grateful I am.
It's amazing how tragedies like this bring neighborhoods and wards together!! I experienced this when my sister died 7 years ago. The strength of community is magnified when tragedies happen and the outpouring of love that is experienced is beyond amazing.
Thanks for always inspiring me and for your fun-natured, uplifting posts you always do.
Good Luck packing and I hope you have the most wonderful and safe trip ever!
