Whole Wheat Blender Pancakes (Waffles)
In a blender, place 1 1/3 cups water, 1/3 cup powdered milk and 1 cup whole wheat kernels. Blend for 2 minutes. Nothing says "Time to wake up" better than wheat being ground in a blender!
While it's blending, place in a mixing bowl:
1 1/2 cups white flour
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
Add to the blender:
2 eggs
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Pour wheat mixture into dry ingredients. Stir until smooth. You may need to add more water to get it the right consistency.
Cook on a hot, sprayed griddle until golden.
Makes about 18 pancakes.
Variation:
Forget the white flour. Add the eggs, oil, baking powder, salt and sugar to the blender. Blend and add water until right consistency. Pour from the blender onto your griddle.
Enjoy!
You are just the smartest ever! I do have a grinder, blender and a crapload of wheat but no basement! I do have water suply so I won't be using the back of the toilet for my water ;)
ReplyDeleteI really feel like a bad Mormon. I don't think I even own a bak of wheat flour, let alone a grinder!
ReplyDeleteI make these often. Totally love them.
ReplyDeleteHi Connie!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! I've made these a few times and they are always a hit. I serve them with peach-pit syrup and they get gobbled right up!!
And, you are right...'nothing does say--- time to wake up' like wheat being ground in the blender. Good to know that it's just not the fact that my blender is super loud.
Have a great day.... look for sunshine:)
I love to make these..we call them Pioneer Pancakes. They are so light and delicious! One of my favorites. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to make these. They look delicious.
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to make these pancakes when I was little! I am so excited to make these for my family...I'll let you know if it's a hit!
ReplyDeleteI need to get my wheat grinder out and try some things with it. Like grinding wheat.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a survivor. Can I come to your house when we run out of toilet water?
Sounds delish!! I'll have to try them!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
As usual, you ALWAYS make me laugh..."Nothing says time to wake up better than wheat being ground in a blender". I always get my daily dose of laughter from you Connie. You are AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteI have never hear of these or made these before. I am definitely going to try these out as....YES, we people that are into being prepared have MANY bags of wheat in our storage to use up.
These look and sound delicious. Thanks for sharing another great recipe!!
Hope your day is a wonderful one!
That looks fabulous! I wish I could try it but I have never even seen whole wheat before!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have had a great week.
Best wishes,
Natasha.
Thanks! I have never found a good recipe for wheat pancakes. They always turn out dark and heavy. These look pretty darn tasty if I do say so!!
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch chickie!!
Mmmm. Pancakes. A great delivery mechanism for pure maple syrup!
ReplyDeleteThanks--I will have to give them a try. I don't use my wheat often enough.
ReplyDeleteI saw these made in an enrichment night, but have never made them. Now that we are really working on food storage, these are looking really yummy.
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing! I never would have thought a blender could do that. I don't own any wheat because I don't have a grinder. I might have to try this. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou make this sound so easy! Wow :) I have honestly never even thought about doing wheat on my own. I love Kamut Khorasan Wheat and it would be great to be able to "make" my own! The pancakes would be great!
