The carrot, of course, is really a donut. Who wouldn't ride 21 miles to be able to partake of as many donuts as you want every 7 miles?
In fact, the more donuts you inhale, the better your time at the end of the race. "Why?", you ask. Perhaps the empty calories give you the burst of energy you need to keep pedaling, but for each donut you eat, you shave 3 minutes off your time! (As if I need an incentive)
I've been training for this race by going to the air-conditioned gym, sitting safely on a stationary bike, and pedaling as fast as I can while watching TV. To really train, I think I'll take a few donuts with me next time!
Many members of my family will be participating, thanks to my daughter, Camille, for informing us of this fun race. Hey, did I mention that it's also for a good cause? Proceeds from this year’s race go to support LiveStrong, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Amber Alert ID, and Youth Scholarships.
The hubs will be there with his recumbent bike!
That seat is just like a big, comfy, recliner!
I get to ride my daughter's bike, "Harry". (Short for Harry Connick Jr.)
My plan is to ditch Harry, half way through the race, climb on the recliner with Andy and while he's pedaling his little guts out, we'll sail across the finish line with both of my sticky, donut filled hands punching the air!
It's not too late for you to join us! Go here to learn more about the race! Would love to see you there!
(I hope they have e x p a n d a b l e shirts!)
Once again, you are just too funny!! Good luck and enjoy the doughnuts!!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at donut. Where can I find a race like this in austin to serve as my first 5k instead of that regular donut-less race I was gonna do...?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a blast. Good luck to you! I would recommend handi-wipes.
ReplyDeleteCan I just see how many donuts I can eat?
ReplyDeleteDonuts?? Ha Ha
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so fun - I know you and Harry will do great!
Donuts are secret Ninja food. I read this somewhere.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! I wish I lived close enough to participate!
ReplyDeleteEat a donut for me!
What a brilliant idea. I would ride 50 miles for a free doughnut. Well , not 50, maybe 10, but still.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Connie! I will gladly join you for donuts anytime!!!
ReplyDeleteTake care and best wishes for a happy 4th of July.
Blessings,
Natasha.
I'd walk to the bakery for a free donut, but ride a race? Hmmm…perhaps not.
ReplyDeleteAre there any maple bars?
I would ride 22 miles for as many donuts as I could eat! Let the fist-pumping begin.
ReplyDeleteFun bike race!!!!! I'm all about having a little treat every few miles!!
ReplyDeleteI've missed so much while my computer was acting up. I'm heading back to read all about your trip to China!! I'm certain you had the time of your life.
Have a good day.
Sandra
What fun this is Connie! I took a look through your blog and you have been up to quite a bit! I have kept meaning to come back, but it's the best I can do just to make my own posts! My boys are sleeping a little better now, so I can do a little more blog browsing! Hope you are well! Such a fun blog :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteJust think, cuts time off your race, and at the same time adding INCES to your waist line.
Or maybe the peddaling and eating balances itself out.
Hubby and I have been talking about getting ourselves each a bike sometime after his hip surgery.
And cross country skis........we need exercise in the winter.
Anyway, I want photos of you eating donuts while doing that race.
Connie, you are my hero! Donuts and all!!! Go Girl!
ReplyDeleteI love that you will be racing and eating donuts. I will be thinking of you and cheering you on. You go girl!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYears ago we found ourselves driving in our car with the tour de france riders coming towards our car. Ha. True story.
What fun! I would so participate if there was one of these events in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteThis is what we have instead, which is not as glorious as a donut bike run....

Sounds like a fun way to earn a treat!
ReplyDeleteLooks like great fun. (You are too cute ; )
ReplyDeleteis there room on that recumbent for me too? If not, I'll just stay at the donut station. Those donuts will need some company. :) You'll do great!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! We have the original Tour de Donut here in Illinois, and my oldest and I are riding in it tomorrow. We get 5 minutes taken off of our time, but we miss out on the gorgeous scenery you have.
ReplyDeleteMy 6 year old is dying to participate, so by next year I'm going to have a tagalong and a donut eating machine!
