Weekend Update

The 4 little ones are asleep.  I should be too, but I'm enjoying the peace and quiet that comes after a full day with children.
It's been a fun weekend, filled with activites, visits, a pumpkin patch, a trip to the Dollar Store, Ichabod Crane, some Wendy's kids meals, and church.

Mom and Dad have been enjoying time in the Bahamas.  They'll be home tomorrow night and everything will return to normal.  I'm grateful for this opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with these beautiful grandkids.

I can tell that I'm not as young as I used to be but I've mellowed over the years and have learned to appreciate the little things...like being able to sleep without a 3-year-old's feet in my back! (tomorrow night!)

  1. It's so fun being a grandma, eh ; ) It's so true about the mellowing--you realize how some things are just not worth worrying about.

    Enjoy.

  2. What lucky parents to know they can leave their kids with you. And what lucky kids to get to play at the grandparents:)

  3. It's a lot of fun spending time with the little ones - I find I can be more carefree with them than I was with my own. As it should be I guess. But BOY! - am I tired when they/I go home!

  8. dirty as a crackhouse house, eh tauna? that's another to add to my taunaisms archive and whip out when no one's expecting! hahahaha...

connie, you absolutely rock n' roll chica. i have a friend who, for the love of all that's holy, can't get her parents to tend her kids or her siblings' kids ever. not that any of them are bad kids, but hanging one on one with the grandkids cramps the grandparents' style. so kudos to you for loving those kids & jumping at the chance to spend time with them! and for giving their parents a smidge of respite. you are wonderful!

  9. That is one thing I soooo miss about having moved up here...is the opportunity to help tend the grandkids.
I get jealous of the "other" grandparents.

those were cute photos, especially laughing at the last one.

It is soo true about how they wear us out physically, but we have so much more patience then when we were young moms. (and knowledge)

  10. What a cute pumpkin face! I wouldn't even mind the feet LOL You are wonderful to take them so their parents could get away like that! It is amazing how we mellow out as grand parents though isn't it :D

  11. Connie,
You must be a wonderful grandma! Taking the kids to the dollar store!
When my kids were little and spent time at grandmas house, they loved to go with her to the dollar store!!
Ahhh... the good ol' days , when it was more about quantity (stuff from the dollar store), and less about quality (a new car).
Glad you had a great time !
