It's a quiet, snowy, Sunday afternoon. We're still in our church clothes. My teenage son, who owns this 1979 Datsun ZX, said, "Mom, let's go do donuts!"
I knew that his kind of donuts were OK for my diet. I didn't consider the effect on my heart!
With a little Blues Traveler playing on the stereo, we went to the junior high school and got a few decent ones in. The seminary parking lot was small but not so good.
The next stop, the church parking lot, filled with cars.
A little more successful.
So much for a quiet, Sunday afternoon.
Do you call it Doing Donuts in your neck of the woods?
You're one brave mom!
ReplyDeleteThe end of the video is my favorite part...love that laugh!
Doin Donuts...that's what we call it too.
Yup thats what it's called...but I call it "being a good spot mom" to supervise all of that! ;D
ReplyDeleteWow! I am very slow this evening. I had to watch the videos before I could figure out what you meant by "his kind" are okay for my diet, but not okay for my heart.
ReplyDeleteHow funny!
yep! "doin' donuts" or "spinnin' cookies." :)
ReplyDeleteand here when i first opened your post i was hoping you had a new recipe for me to try! lol. have a great monday night. ::warm hugs::
Hahahaha! Your such a rebel! :)
ReplyDeleteLove that you had some good old one on one time with your son!
Ahh, good times. Wasn't it great being a teenager!? So glad you got to join in for a bit again! :)
ReplyDeleteDoin' cookies.
ReplyDeleteDonuts...cookies, it's all hair raisin'
I usually go to an empty parking lot during the first storm so I can get a "feel" of my car. Didn't get a chance to do that this year as the interstate on the way home from Utah turned out to be the "sudden parking lot"
We're still getting blasted with snow. How 'bout you?
You are so cool!
ReplyDeleteYep, that's what we call it.
ReplyDeleteYou are crazy!
Us too!
ReplyDeleteWe call it doin donuts, or spinnin' brodies.
You certainly are a good sport!
I really do think you're my hero!! You are amazing. I'm pretty sure I would not go do that with my kids, even though as a kid a did donuts out in the middle of fields!! Good times!!
ReplyDeleteYou sounded a little nervous, Connie! I bet Jacob loved it.
ReplyDeleteYou are pretty brave Connie! I also like how you edited the first video, to cut off the filming before you started with the expletives.
ReplyDeleteYou are so brave! I am terrified of those things and refuse to do them.
ReplyDeleteseriously laughing....that is so TOTALLY what Matt, or anyone of my other sons would suggest.
ReplyDeleteyou're a cool mom
Connie oh how fun! The designs look pretty in the snow. *Smiles*
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
~Melissa :)
How fun that you did that with your son! I haven't done donuts for years... it's kind of hard to do in California. We used to do them when I lived in NJ as a kid. In the church parking lot. After seminary. Ahhh... good times.
ReplyDeleteBlues Traveler will get you to do pretty much anything nutty.
ReplyDeleteEven down here in Georgia where it snows every 20 years we call it doing donuts. Chruch parking lot was the safest place to go! 1991 was the last time we could do that. Enjoy the fun memory maker kind of days.
ReplyDeleteIt is a silent snow, Sunday afternoon. They are still in our church clothes. My teenage son, who is this 1979 Datsun ZX, said Mommy, they make pancakes.
ReplyDeleteRatgeber
You are SO awesome Connie. How sweet.
ReplyDeleteYep, we call em donuts here too.
I used to do them with my big brother James, actually I guess he did them, I was along for the ride, but it was never in the snow.
Totally call it doing donuts! And I usually hear about them AFTER the fact..... : )
ReplyDeleteYou are totally, like, the cooolest mom ever!
ReplyDeleteOoops. Should have taken my Dramamine before watching that video! :)
ReplyDeleteWe "spin cookies" in our church parking lot. And I have to say we did some dandy ones last weekend. However, the parking lot was EMPTY! I am too chicken to do it with a full parking lot!
