'Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the place
25 crazy people were partying
Taking up lots of space.
The nativity was acted
By the grandkids with care
A reverent feeling was felt
By all those who were there.
We sang lots of songs,
Carolers came to the door,
We hugged and we laughed
Then we sang some more.
Gifts were exchanged,
The party really got started.
All were happy
because everyone was big-hearted!
The children were tired
Out in the snow.
When out in the road there arose such a clatter
I sprang to the door to see what was the matter.
A hummer was idling, It stopped real quick.
And the driver emerged…It was St. Nick!
He went right to work With his red velvet bag
Giving out candy canes To all, whether good or bad!
Some children ran out without shoes, coat or sweater
Hoping to convince Santa, they've never been better!
Then before we could say, “Who’s this guy in the beard?”
He ran into the house, It seemed kinda weird.
He asked all the adults, who gave him a funny look,
If they’d been good or bad. Then checked his naughty book.
“Mom, this guy's not really Santa!” my oldest son said,
“He’s casing the joint!”...was this something to dread?
He cupped faces in his hand, Asked if we said our prayers.
Turned Vili’s hat around then bolted back down the stairs.
But I heard him exclaim ere he drove out of sight!
Better lock your doors. I’m coming back tonight!
If this guy was really casing our house, he soon realized he was in the wrong neighborhood and the wrong house! I'm sure "Santa" was a good man who saw all the commotion with grandkids and crazy adults and decided to join in the fun!
Would you have let a total stranger, dressed as Santa, in your home?
I thought it was a family member! Wow, I'm not entirely sure.
ReplyDeleteWow so you seriously did not know him? That is really funny!
ReplyDeleteHe was probably playing the part of Santa nearby and saw all the kids and decided to give them a thrill! Very fun!
Hilarious! lol Loved this post and your sweet twist on this classic...so creative!! Glad your Christmas was wonderful and the best present you could have was to be with all your family that you cherish! Wishing you the Happiest of a New Year to come!!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love friend!
Victoria
Maybe it was really Santa Claus and maybe he was just checking you all out...better watch out! LOL Very cute :D
ReplyDeleteNow that is a group of partiers that I could hang with. Especially the bearded dude. Looks like a barrel of fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story this will be for future years. Your kids will never forget the night Santa visited in his Hummer.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun day. That is a very interesting thing to have happen! :) Santa in a Hummer? Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI believe your family is a fun magnet, even for Santa!! That's just too funny or scary...I'm not sure which?!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Goodness, I'm not sure what I would have done. I think he definitely picked the right house ; ) You are all so fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem.
That's crazy---no one knew who he was?
ReplyDeleteGlad you had enough people there to discourage him for coming back if he evil intent:)
i'm still sitting here stunned. not sure what to think of the santa you really truly didn't know! huh.
ReplyDeletewell, ya'll survived and weren't broken into. so he must have been just a nice person spreading Christmas cheer. ::hugs::
Great poem! Great pictures! Fun party!
ReplyDeleteSounds like quite the party. I bet you were so good this year that Santa decided to pay you a visit.
ReplyDeleteThe best to you and your family in the new year.
What a fabulous post and some excellent photos...you've made me smile on a very grey day with a particularly grumpy Hubby to deal with (serves him right)so well done:)

Looks like a bast! And you really didn't know who Santa was? Kinda scary...
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! (Especially since it was harmless...) Would I have let him in? I might if I lived in Utah.
ReplyDeleteVery creative twist on the poem. But we wouldn't expect anything less from you! :) Santa is REAL!!
ReplyDeleteI would have freaked out. Then I might have ruined Christmas by calling the cops and letting my kids see Santa get hauled away to jail. ;o)
ReplyDeleteIt's lucky he came to your house and not mine!
I love the story, very cute and fun pictures.
ReplyDeleteCrazy about santa..really?
Hmmmm,I don't think I would have let him in.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your family had a crazy, fun time.
Looks like the usual Lansgton fun.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Santa had not been drinking. We had a drunken Santa at a work Christmas party a few years ago. My kids still remember him. What a memory to have!!!
Wrong neighborhood, wrong house....oh my goodness. Um, of course I'd let Santa in my house.
ReplyDeleteGuess we'd better ask for Santa ID from now on eh.
that is pretty funny
and your poem/story was great
I would totally let a Santa in my house.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you were bursting at the seams.
I love the lip gloss gal. So cute!!!

Oh that is too funny! You really didn't know him? My mother in law told me there is a Santa in her town who does just this every year. He goes to perfect strangers' houses and people let him in!
