How Do You Spell Relief?

I spell it R.E.L.E.A.S.E
After serving as Relief Society President of our ward for the past 4 1/2 years, it's time for someone else to "receive the blessings" and for the ladies in the ward to have someone new.
Of course, this comes with mixed emotions.  
So...what's next?  I told our new Bishop I would do a fantastic job straightening the hymn books after church.  He just looked at me, expressionless.  I'm not sure if he agrees with me or not.
Tonight I'm celebrating/lamenting with a 56 oz. bag of Peanut M&Ms.  Who needs the resealable zipper?

    Oh, congratulations!!! I'm sure you were such a wonderful president, blessing the lives of countless people and received many blessings. But it's also good to move to something different sometimes. Have a nice rest before you get a new calling.

    4 1/2 years! Wow, that is awesome. You deserve lots of M&M's. Enjoy them and your free time...for just a minute or two until the next calling comes along :)

    Been there and done that and know of your feelings :) A big bag of M&M's should do the trick.
    And if Tauna is right, Stake Relief Society Pres. was easier for me than Ward R/S Pres. was! But after 4 1/2 years, starightening the Hymn books would be a great relief.

    I am sure you will be missed as the Relief Society Pres. There is no doubt in my mind that you did a wonderful job serving the sisters in your ward.

    As for the resealable zipper, there is no need for one.

    That was a long time!! I know you were a Fabulous RS Pres and the ladies in the ward will miss you in that role!
    I had to laugh. Years ago after I had been in a series of Presidency callings the Bishop asked me what I wanted to do and I told him I wanted to Dust the hymnbooks. Hilarious!! It's a good calling after alot of responsibility (wink)!

    i'm impressed that you were r.s. president for that long and that you survived. i'm thinking you were a hard one to replace and that is why you were in so long- you were irreplaceable. hope you enjoy the rest!

    Were you actually released or was that just a wish. I feel the same way about my calling and I've only been in it for a little over a year.

    I know those feelings well also.
    I am happy.. and sad for you.

    RS presidents will never get the reward they deserve until we are on the other side I am sure....

    I can tell just by your blog that you have been wonderful.. and marvelous.. and I am sure YOU will be greatly missed by those sisters.

    Hope your next calling is just what you need. The waiting is KILLER.

    Four and a half years?! You are a saint. I died after four and a half months. I told the Bishop I would prefer being Elder's Quorum Greeter. He thought I was joking...

    My wife was just released after 3 years of YW Pres. She now does Activity Days and she seems to have a lot less stress in her life.

    It is a release which does come with lots mixed emotions. How lucky your sisters were to have you! I can imagine how reluctant your bishop was to release you too. My husband said his RS president/s was his right hand and every bit another counselor. Congratulations! Enjoy a moment or too before they call you as YW camp director!:D

    Oh I know those sisters will really miss your leadership and friendship. I just know you did an awesome job. The Lord is pleased with you.

    My BFF Daisy who I talked to you about served about the same time as you and she was just released too. Mixed feelings for sure.

    Just think, now you can add some more fun activities to your already full schedule. :)

    I have often thought and even said that I would love that hymn straightening calling. HA.

    Well next time you do that kind of celebrating, come and sit by me! Congrats on a job well done. I was celebrating being released as the Primary pianist, but now that seems sort of silly. I was really tired of being in there though.

    I bet you were the BEST, most full of life Relief Society President ever!!

    I don't know how you do it all! Keeping up a BLOG, working at the schoo, taking such awesome care of your family/grandkids, canning, cooking the majority of your meals from scratch AND all of the MANY things that come with being a Relief Society President. You truly are SUPER WOMAN!!

    I bet the sisters in your ward LOVED all of the great recipes/canning tips, etc... that you shared on your Blog...I KNOW I DID (and still do!)

    Enjoy not having anything to do for a bit!!

    Hope you're having a happy week! I've missed visiting your Blog and I think I'm finally back in Blog-land again!

    I served at RSP in our ward for just under 5 years too. It was a very hard release for me. It's kind of like having all your children leave home at the same time. :( Not that the sister in the ward were like my children...but my focus was so much on them for so long, it was hard to turn that part off.

    As you can probably tell, I am loving your blog.
