You will need a bag that isn't see-through for each person. The bigger, the better!
At least one pair of dice is required. Depending on how many people are playing, you may want to have 2 pair of dice going at once.
Of course you'll need some of these. Again, depending on how many people are playing will determine how many candy bars you'll want. Don't just stop with candy bars. You can throw in some pencils, notebooks, socks, small toys, lotions. Whatever you have lying around the house or that you got on sale!
Make sure there's something that people are going to want. (Ours was a large bag of peanut M&Ms and a belt with a seat belt buckle) It makes the game more exciting!
Now, grab some of these,
and these,
and these - and get the game started!
Put all your goods in the middle of the floor and everyone sits in a circle around the pile of treasures. The first person rolls the dice. If he gets doubles, he gets to choose something from the middle, put it in his bag, then rolls again. If he gets doubles again, he gets to choose something else then rolls the dice one last time. If he gets doubles 3 times in a row, he has to dump his bag (this is where the crying comes in)
If you don't roll doubles you just pass the dice to the next person. All this is done quickly and you'll want to keep an eye on what others are putting in their bags because you can ask for that item when you roll doubles.
BUT beware! If you ask for something out of someone else's bag and they don't have that item, you dump your bag! See how much fun this is!
Towards the end of the game, it's good to start allowing 7's and 11's to choose an item from the middle or out of another bag. The rule we have is the person who rolls a 7 or 11 can't roll again.
When the game is over, we make sure we still like each other and we share the bounty with those who didn't get so much! Have fun with your family and friends!

Sounds like calorie and cavity-filled fun! But I can definitely see where the crying could come in.
That sounds like something my kids would LOVE. Thanks for explaining it.
YES, I HAVE PLAYED THIS GAME MANY TIMES WITH ALL AGES AND IT IS SO FUN! COME SAY HI :D
Sounds like lots of fun. Then again, anything involving candy bars sounds fun to me:)
I'm gonna have to try this!
You always have the best ideas!
I LOVE your candy bar game rules. Much funner than what we play!!

No one looks forward to the candy as much as we do the emotions!
Excellent job explaining the rules/objectives of the game. I think this post needs to be printed, packaged with dice, and placed on the toy store shelves. You'd make millions! :) (and my mug would be famous)
Yay! I'm glad you shared the game with us. I am looking for some fun group games for our extended family parties this year. We will be trying this one out for sure!
Also, thanks for another yummy recipe. We love Mexican food at our house, so I will be adding this one to the rotation! :)
Sounds like so much fun. Next you should try musical chairs and see if there are any tears.
I agree! I'm going to have to try this for sure! We have always played a candy bar game.. but nothing with this much excitement!
With as competitive as we all are.. I'm sure there would be LOTS of emotions at my house!!
What a really great idea and it sounds like a riot..of fun..it reminds me of the old days when people really knew how to have plain old fun....
thanks for the idea..

Love it! The best part is that everyone can join in the fun. I'll have to plan on doing this the next time our family is together. It will be a hoot! Thanks for sharing!
Your family always has so much fun together. What a blessing that you have kids that live close by.
I love getting new game ideas! This is going in my binder for FUN games. Now I need to have a party so we can play it.
You are AWESOME Connie and I appreciate your willingness to share all of your great ideas! Hope you are surviving being back to work!
Ooo, I love this idea. I wonder if I could do this for a birthday party with all the accumulated STUFF that isn't garbage but that I don't want in my house. Hmmm. Great game!
Sounds like a great idea. Love it. Thanks for explaining how to play. We'll have to give it a try.
I can't wait to try this out on our family. We love games like this minus the crying of course :)
