How about a rousing rocket launch?
Dan brought his homemade rocket launcher and we had a rocket making/launching contest.Soda bottles, heavy foam, glue guns and a bunch of odds and ends were used to create the perfect rocket.
Dave is showing the lovely "left-over hotdog" rocket made by Jake. The two pencils protruding from the nose shows style and weaponry.
This is the Cherry-7-up rocket made by Dave. Inside the nose of the rocket are hot dog buns. He thought this rocket would feed the seagulls...as if they need any more to eat! They better watch out though, the plastic fork dart could prove to be dangerous!
This Sprite/water bottle rocket was created by Dan. The celery in the top turned in to a relish after a few launches. It could double as a food processor.
Here's Dan and Andy getting the "food processor" ready to launch. I think it would be a great infomercial!
The following videos are a sampling of how it's done. The camera person (me) couldn't track it very well. They shot so high and fast that it was next to impossible to keep up.
(That's my story and I'm sticking with it)
This video shows Jason launching his confetti rocket. It's hard to see but the confetti floated down beautifully after the launch.
This video shows Jake's hotdog rocket. We found the hotdogs but the rocket, with the #2 pencils, appropriately landed on the school.
We had a lot of fun! Since we didn't break any windows and no one reported us to the police, we may just do it again!

You have one adventurous family! Hey, and maybe the school deserved it on the roof!
Excellent! Very cool.
That looks fun...I have not seen that many together ever..what excitement! :D
What a labor intensive Labor Day. Looks like you had a lot of fun.
Love the countdown ; )
Your get togethers always look like so much fun.
You live life on the edge my friend.....on the edge.
You are flirting with the law.
Looks like so much fun!!!!
May have to do this for our next get together.
This looks hilarious! I'm sending this on to my BIL who's planning the next family reunion.
We do those once a year at scouts and the whole family always wants to get in on it! What a fun family.
That's awesome! Looks like 6th grade science, but way more fun:)
You guys are so cool. I need to come hang out at your place sometime.
Awesome! My boys would have loved watching (and participating) with the rockets!
You are hilarious! Food processor--Ha Ha
I was just training someone yesterday and she said they did those too only one of them hit her son in the shoulder and almost broke it. Guess you have to be so careful.
Looks like fun! Next time we're coming to party with you.
You guys crack me up. I don't know of any other family that would think to do a rocket launching event. Who knows, once perfected it could be the next Olympic sport.
I can't think of a more fitting use for hotdogs :-)>
That's pretty fun. It doesn't get much better than that for little boys! (Or big ones either.)
That looks like way to much fun for the family. Reminds me of our rocket day (much smaller), I bet our kids would have loved those.
What is it with boys and the need to launch stuff?
Fun and good times!
You guys always have all the fun!
Those rocket launchers are so fun! I just got out of Cub Scouts and they would have those at different events. That is cool you guys have that! What a lot of fun! They do go super high!
So, I keep seeing your fun profile photo on several of the blogs I read and HAD to come check your blog out! This looks slightly treacherous, but so fun! And with no broken windows or police--what a success! I'm partial to the left-over hotdog rocket. :)
My sweetie is the Cubmaster and he did this for Pack Meeting. The boys loved it! Sounds like a great family activity!
Sandy
