HAPPY 85th BIRTHDAY, DAD!
We celebrated my Dad's 85th birthday last Saturday. He and Mom are both going strong and are still great examples to all of us. My brother, Gerald, and his wife, Cherrie, were there. My sis wasn't able to make it but we still had fun! Just in case you're wondering, NO, I am not my Mother's sister!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AD!
Two days later, Miss Ad had her 7th birthday. Since they moved far, far, away, I wasn't able to be there to ...er...help with the cake! This was taken BEFORE the cake was sliced. I think there was an earthquake in the kingdom!
STILL TRYING TO HEAL!
Do you remember the blister on my husband's foot after our 15 mile walk in September? Well, instead of healing, it just became a nice deep hole in the bottom of his foot. He finally went to a wound clinic and has had a couple different treatments to get it to heal. The latest is this fashionable boot. We're hoping this will do the trick. He's anxious to get back on the basketball court. Then we'll have more injuries!
THE BIG AND THE SMALL!
You ought to know that I couldn't do a post without including my latest babies! They're two weeks old now and absolutely adorable! Grady, on the right, was 11 lbs 7 oz when he was born. Langston, on the left, was 7 lbs 14 oz. Can you see the difference 4 lbs and an inch makes in a newborn? I bet by the time they're a year old, they'll be the same size.
Babies do NOT like being undressed. Just ask Langston!
(Makes me want to swaddle both of them and rock in the rocking chair.)
I have a 4 day weekend! Woo Hoo!

Hope Andy can get that foot healed!
Cute grandbabies, of course!
And happy birthday to Ad & your dad. It sounds like it's been a busy January for you. :)
Love the photo with the babies...how precious!! And that cake looks awesome!
joy to you,
Alida
I still can't believe someone had an 11 lb baby!! And look at the hair on Langston. Love it. I bet in about 6 or 7 months those boys are gonna love being undressed. I get such a kick out of watching my nephews run around in between the time they're dressed and getting their jammies on:)
Your blog is always so fun. I think it's the way you word things. :)
I had to wear one of those boots 2 years ago for a broken foot. Took the pain right away and my foot healed up 2 months later. but then I needed PT to recover from shift in my walk, but that recovered too.
Those babies....onmygoodness....you sure hit the jackpot. It will be really fun to see the changes in growth over the next year. I hope you keep us updated with pictures.
Good luck with the boot! I am not very good to wear those when I am supposed to.
I wish I could have licked that cake!!!
Have a great LONG weekend!
Those are some sweet little cherub babies!
Your parents are adorable and no- you do NOT look like your mother's sister. You have lotsa new babies in your family - how fun!
Sounds like you are keeping busy with so many wonderful family activities. I bet Ad missed you at her birthday celebration.
Have a wonderful 4 day weekend. I can guess who you will be visiting.
I wanna pick up those babies and love on them too, rock them, sing little lullabyes. Stick my nose in their little sweet smelling necks.
LOVE THAT CAKE...yes, I do believe there WAS a little earthquake. Some evil with perhaps.
happy birthday to your dad..crazy how someone thought your mom was your sister, I remember that story.
funny how we let one would heal, just to get ready for the next one. OUCH, hope his foot gets better soon.
My BIL has diabetes and his feet are in awful shape. For 6 months he had to basically keep off his feet, as he had a HOLE in the bottom of his foot too.
nasty.
That cake made me laugh. I've baked a few like that over the years. And those babies ... what an amazing difference.
Hello Connie, Nice to meet you and greetings from Oz.
No! you don't look like your mums sister...just the same coloured hair, like mine..
With your hubby's foot, the circulation will help to heal it. When he sits down it would be good to soak it in salt water for a while (wash dish of water with about 1/4 cup sea salt). then dry well abd raise the leg, like when sitting in a recliner. If he is a smoker, then wounds take longer to heal because the nicotine eats the valuable O2(oxygen)that circulates in the blood to feed the cells. Otherwise, by raising the leg he allows the circulation down and back from his heart easier, which will promote healing. Salt water is simple and effective. I pray the Boot helps also. Blessings to you all.
Your mom and dad are so stinkin' cute!!!!
Uh....your daughter didn't move to the far reaches of the "neverlands" I promise! The cake is a adorable!
Oh and that last picture......how do you spell "ethiopia"?
They will probably be the same size in a few weeks, but right now....those thighs are darling!
How fun to be able to celebrate with your mom and dad--love the picture.
So sorry about your husband's foot--YIKES, I can't believe it is still bothering him.
Love the picture of Miss Ad and her cake--HOW VERY CUTE!!!
And those babies--my goodness.
Yay for 4 day weekends! I'm celebrating mine now...wondering how I can stretch it out to 5 or 6 or 7 days... I'm visiting Max and I'm dreading leaving. Two weeks til I can see him again...sigh.
Birthday joy all around! The cake still looks DELISH! And the babies are gorgeous as well! Its a Happy, happy month!
Aw, I love all of your photos! Your parents are awesome!
Those babies are so dang cute! So fun to have all of these cousins be so tight.
Those sweet grand babies of yours makes me wish I had some one to rock. They are cuties.
Hope your husbands foot heals up soon. I had to laugh about the basketball injury reference. Sounds like my hubby. He has gotten hurt playing church ball.
Love that birthday cake.
Well, I'm so late getting over here!
Happy belated Birthday to your dad and Miss Ad! Love birthdays.
That's crazy about your husband's foot! I hope the boot does the job. I'd be freaking out if a wound got worse instead of better.
Those grandbabies are just adorable! It is amazing the difference. Even two pounds is totally noticable at that age. My Jason was 7 lbs 4 oz at birth and his twin Justin was 5 lb 13 oz. It was a pound and a half difference, but Justin seemed so tiny in comparison.
I think it is just AWESOME that your sweet dad is still here with you and that you were able to celebrate his 85th birthday! My heart is touched when I see family's that still have their parents/grandparents for so long. That truly is SUCH a blessing...one that I won't have the opportunity to experience.
LOVE the cake...and love that you said there must have been an earthquake in the kingdom! You have the BEST sense of humor that I love SO much!!
SO sorry to hear that Andy is still having problems with his foot! Darn, but SO happy they are hopefully able to heal it once and for all with the boot. BTW...you are married to such a SWEET man...the two of you are such an awesome inspiring couple!
Adorable babies...I still can't believe that Grady was 11 lbs. 7 oz....WOW!
Your comment at the bottom was absolutely priceless about wanting to swaddle them and rock them...You are the BEST grandma in the world and I just love you!
What beautiful family moments! Except your hubby's foot! I can't believe it is still healing. Poor guy.
