What better way to spend the week than to be
(Every seat was filled but Aly wanted to sit in ANY seat but hers.)
A stop in St. George to cover ourselves with red sand
was therapeutic.
We'll be finding that sand for the next few days!
Back in the Excursion for the next jaunt of our healing trip.
(I could post another shot of Aly's discontent but you get the picture)
The Grand Canyon is amazing! And yes, I was watching Aly like a Grandma Hawk!
As we pulled in to Phoenix, this beautiful sunset was the perfect ending to our day.
This is the main reason we headed south...to be with Grandparents (I didn't get a picture of Andy's Mom.)
and to play with cousins.
A good game of Red Rover is the best way to get reacquainted.
When was the last time you played London Bridge?
It's good to get away. It's good to be with family...even if Aly doesn't like her car seat!

It looks like it was a good trip. So glad you could go and be covered in red sand. The Arizona sunset is really gorgeous.
What fun! I bet the cousins all were we'll acquainted and didn't want to come home.
Pray for all of you and your continued healing.
I'm so happy yall got away together. Great way to heal and help get your minds off your grief even if it is for a little while. Keep singing and hopefully she'll get over it before the 5 days are up :) Nothing like cousin love. Yall enjoy!
When we took Zach to the Grand Canyon in 2010, he thought it was pretty funny to keep pretending to lose his balance on narrow trails and pathways. I suffered quite a few mini heart attacks that day! Gah!
Hope you enjoyed being here in AZ!
Looks like a great trip. (I have a feeling even Aly will have fun ; )
LOL about finding the sand for a long time.
How wonderful that you were able to be with grandparents.
You have such a wonderful family. LOVE IT.
Drive carefully.
Prayers for your continued healing.
I've said it a million times, and I'll say it a million times more...
Aly is HARRIBLE.
Enjoy!
Good Morning :)
Oh.. it looks like you had a wonderful and restorative trip.
Family, warm weather, a change of scenery... all good for the soul.
And, you really can't blame Aly for not liking her car seat.
I wouldn't like one either...LOL.
Hope that you continue to heal your hearts.
Still praying for you all.
Road trips are the best. Especially when you go somewhere fun.
I am grateful you did this.
We did quite a few little trips last year.. and even though I was kinda numb through most of them.. it really helped being around each other...
I am still thinking of you.. and keeping a prayer in my heart for you and your family...
That is so good...get away, be with family, keep busy, let time keep passing.... Oh the days must be hard but I'm sure the trip must have helped a little. Especially for the kids. The broken hearts of the parents must still be in a hazy fog of sadness and longing. I am so sorry.
Finding joy in stressful situations or with things you cannot change is always a step closer to good mental health. Enjoy and let the warmth of the Son fill you with light!
Love you!
D
Loved seeing you all!
Sounds like quite the adventure, one that won't be forgotten anytime soon.
Still saying prayers for your family.
Sounds like the best sort of trip to take - there's nothing more fun than a bunch of cousins! Hope it was healing for you as well.
A good long trip is always good for the soul and for healing. I hope it was enjoyable... it looks like it was fun! You know... I've lived 4 hours from the Grand Canyon my whole life and I've NEVER been there?! Maybe I'll go once before I die... :) My youngest is going for his 7th grade field trip in May.
I hope you enjoyed the warm sun in the Valley! When I was down there a few weeks ago the desert flowers were just blooming. But it has been a dry spring so they probably didn't last very long this year. I hope you got to see some though... if they haven't all burned off already. I just love the desert during springtime!
A family road trip seems like a great way to work on healing. I don't blame Aly for not wanting to ride in her car seat. I've always thought they were extremely constraining. I can't help but think that, while they definitely make car travel safer, they can't be comfortable or good for circulation.
Nothing like a change of scenery to lift one's spirits! We'll be making a similar trip the first week in May to a grandgirl's baptism in California. I saw a saying the other day on a little sign that I thought you might like. "It's a veil, not a wall." Reminds us all how close we all are. Mimi
Who doesn't love taking a trip into the desert...also visiting family?
It looks like you guys had a blast.
I get away trip is often a good diversion from "what ailes ya"
I am happy you got this opportunity. The warm weather itself would certainly make ME happy.
Family therapy is the BEST therapy.
Hugs.
Oh Miss Connie,
I am so glad to see that you played your favorite game, Red Rover!!!!!
Nothing better for the healing process.
Looks like you are having a great time.
i'm so jealous! But looking at those kids, it looked like Rex and Lee were playing Red Rover with you... :)
I'm so glad you got to get away and spend time with loved ones. It looks like wonderful memories were made.
I just love a good road trip. And I love AZ! Glad you got to get away with this particular group of people.
