Dept. of Transportation

Do you remember this guy with the self-inflicted hair cut?  He's gone from being the neighborhood barber...

...to the neighborhood transportation guru. The kids wait in line to have a ride in his makeshift, tricycle rickshaw!

During the month of October, he's giving broom rides for only 25 cents!

Grab your hat!  You don't want to pass up this deal!

Weekend Update

The 4 little ones are asleep.  I should be too, but I'm enjoying the peace and quiet that comes after a full day with children.
It's been a fun weekend, filled with activites, visits, a pumpkin patch, a trip to the Dollar Store, Ichabod Crane, some Wendy's kids meals, and church.

Mom and Dad have been enjoying time in the Bahamas.  They'll be home tomorrow night and everything will return to normal.  I'm grateful for this opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with these beautiful grandkids.

I can tell that I'm not as young as I used to be but I've mellowed over the years and have learned to appreciate the little things...like being able to sleep without a 3-year-old's feet in my back! (tomorrow night!)

DWTS Future Hopefuls

When 8-year-old Miss Em decided to choreograph a dance for 5-year-olds, Mr. Cy and Ad, the result was breathtaking or should I say - interesting.  Kels & Keits got in on the act, only to be voted off before the finale.  The Hoff knows how that feels!

Behind the Scenes!

With a lot of hard work on the part of Em & the dancers, they pulled it off.  The lights were dimmed for effect.  The camera didn't like that!

Final Performance!

I'm sure Bruno would give them a high five!

Why It's Fun to Have Grandchildren!

You get to attend sporting events where you know the players...

...and get excited about their performance!

You're safe while with them.

To see a smile like this melts the heart and makes you smile!

You learn the newest fashion trend!

You get to play like a kid again!

If you're like me, your arts and crafts skills are the same as theirs!

You can get "down" at a dance party! (unless you're grandpa)

They're ready with a hug and kiss even before you request it!

You can always get some comic relief!

Or just enjoy the sweetness!

But sometimes the nice thing about being a grandma is:

you get to send them home!

I'm one lucky grandma!

Twit Contest!

If you're a parent of more than one child, or, if you have a sibling close in age, you may know what a twit contest is all about. It starts out as fun and games; some laughing, some teasing, laughing/half-crying, more teasing, pushing, wrestling, throwing, laughing, mom telling children to stop. More teasing, more chasing, mom announces, "Take it outside and don't you come crying to me when you get hurt!"  There's more silliness then...BOOM! It happens!  Someone gets hurt. There are tears, blood, bruises, and bumps.  Someone yells, "I'm Sorry!", while following the victim who goes wailing to Mom, expecting comfort and understanding.    Mom asks, "Are you happy, now?"

(David, 25 years ago after being hit in the eye with a dirt clod during a twit contest with his brother.)

It doesn't change.  Twit Contests are the same throughout the ages!

Poor Mr. Cy!  He is NOT happy now!  Can you guess by the goose egg on his forehead, who DIDN'T win the twit contest?

The New Mr. & Mrs.

Jordan and Chelsey got married on Friday the 13th!

Most people would avoid that day but these two aren't superstitious...not at all!  Excuse me while I throw some salt over my shoulder.

Brothers as body guards are a must on this questionable day!

Let's back up a bit. We had a long, wonderful day that started with a wedding luncheon.  It was catered by Connie's Cupboard and Crew!  (Me and my fam)  The menu was: green salad with dressing, lasagna, green beans, fruit medley, desserts, and rolls.

What we lacked in food, we made up for in entertainment.
My beautiful daughter-in-law, Rachael sang, "The Very Thought of You". She has the voice of an angel.

The L2G, (Langston 2nd Generation) performed a Mindy Gledhill song. What they lacked in talent, they made up for in cuteness.  You can see their fun and "not quite ready for prime time" performance here

Off to the Timpanogos Temple for the wedding.  After the sealing, we had pictures taken in front of the temple; in the sun, the hot sun, blasting our eyelids and making us blind!

Finally someone suggested that maybe on the other side of the temple there might be shade!  What do ya know!

Chelsey, the Princess, was a "little girl magnet".  They loved giving her hugs.

Mr. Troy thought he was the keeper of Baby Aly, but alas, she'd had all she could handle!

C8 and Kels were concerned that Troy was sad because Baby Aly didn't enjoy his company.

After comforting everyone, we headed to the reception in the back yard of Grandma's house, where there was some shade...for the shorter people.

I love this picture of my parents talking to their youngest great grandchild.

The food was awesome at the reception.  There were three fountains on the serving tables. One had milk chocolate, another had white chocolate, and the third one had ranch dressing.  I didn't get a picture of the serving tables with my camera, so we'll settle for a hand-full of olives from C8.  The olives were on the ranch dressing table.

Jordan and Chelsey cut the cake and fed it to each other in a nice way!

A toss of the bouquet...

...and they're sneaking off to get the car that was hidden in the neighbor's garage.

A final pose before leaving for the honeymoon.

Trying to fit in the car with yards and yards of polyester!

She fit!

Congratulations, Jordan and Chelsey!

Ya done good!

Happy Birthday to a Confused 3-year-old

"Kelsey, how old are you today?"
Without batting an eye, 3-year-old Kels said, "Five!" then held up 4 fingers!

Happy Birthday, Kelsey!
Sorry to have to tell you this, but the older you get, the worse the confusion.  Just ask Grandpa!

Camille, at Make It Work Mom, has featured me today as a "Mom Who Makes it Work"!  I promised her a batch of brownies if she made me look good.  I don't think I'm going to have to worry about the brownies!

Sports Bra Blues

My daughter, Candice, has 4 children. The oldest is 8; the youngest is a nursing baby of 3 months.

Mr. Cy is 5-years-old.  His cousin, Ad, is also 5 and Candice tends Ad and her sis during the day.

Candice's birthday is coming up soon.  I asked her what she wanted.  She reluctantly named a few things and I jotted them down.  Later during the day, I received this text:

"Another idea...a really good sports bra for my gallon milk jugs.  I exercised this morning with the kids...Cy said to Ad, 'Look at my mom's lungs!  They're jumping!'"

(sorry, no video)
