Like Mother - Like Sister?

When I was growing up, people would say that I look like my mother.

That was OK because my Mom has always been a beautiful lady, inside and out!

Shortly after Andy and I were married, we moved to a new neighborhood. A woman came up to me at church and asked if I knew (she said my mother's name).  I told her that the person whose name she mentioned is my mother.  She said that she used to work with my mom 30 years before and I looked just like her.

My mom is now 88 years old!.  (Don't tell her I told you)  That's more than 30 years older than me.  She's reasonably healthy and looks good for her age.

My Dad had to have an angiogram on Thursday.  I went to the hospital with my parents.   Mom and I went to the gift shop to buy some gum.  While paying for the gum, the woman working there, looked at both of us and said, "I KNOW that you two are sisters!"

I was speechless.  No one has ever accused me of being my mother's sister!   Mom said, "No we're mother and daughter.  The woman looked a little sheepish.  Then my Mom said, "Guess which one is the Mother!"  I immediately left before the woman had time to answer.

Maybe it's time to go back to coloring my hair. Perhaps then people will mistake me for Jill's sister! (In my dreams)

Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
A very special Mother's Day to my own dear Mom/sister!

Your mother is beautiful.
She looks like a total kick in the pants. I bet she keeps you on your toes.

I love the wedding picture. You look like you were about 12.

Uh, is that a pig on the table?
Awesome!

I may or may not have a years supply of hair color in my storage.
That is if I color my hair.
Which I may or may not do.

Oops that was me.

Connie~ I feel your pain! I've been mistaken for Shane's grandma a time or 12!

Great comeback from your mom though!

Happy Mother's Day.

First off, I love all of your old time photos you are always posting. I enjoy greatly looking at photos of days gone by. You were such an adorable girl in the top photo and you look just like your mom on your wedding day.

I love your mom's spunky personality with her come back to the receptionist.

Wishing your father and mother the best and hope your father has a speedy recovery!

Love the photo of Jill's wedding....looks like a delicious feast and love the smile on your face!

PS...I love your hair just the way it is!! It is a beautiful color! I really admire people that have the confidence to stop coloring and to just be themselves.

Have a Wonderful Mother's Day!

I'm sitting here laughing--I think that is so cute. I especially laughed when you wrote, "I left before the woman had time to answer" ; )

Happy Mother's Day, my friend.

LOL!!!

I guess I am lucky enough that some people think I am my daughters sister. I better enjoy it because I am sure that will stop soon.

Ouch! Things like that sting. :) I'm sure other people do not think you look the same age though!

We missed you at the blogger breakfast. I didn't even know you were invited to afterwards, but I was thinking of you. I even asked one of the ladies if she knew you because we should've invited you. Next time for sure!!!

I see you and your mom have the same great sense of humor. Some people just need to put their glasses on before speaking up like that. You do NOT look 88 or anywhere close!

Your mom is a beautiful lady. I hope your dad is doing ok. Hope to see you soon.

Your mother is beautiful, but really - there's no way I'd think you two are sisters (sorry Mom). Some people have no powers of observation - they see the resemblance and, oh yeah, they both have white hair... they must be sisters. Really?!? In other words, I wouldn't take it too much to heart!
I hope your Dad is doing well and that they found nothing serious.
One more comment: if I had your beautiful hair I wouldn't waste my time coloring it. It's all grown out and it's a lovely color. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I have a foot of hair I'd have to grow out! And the maintenance is getting harder to keep up every day...

Connie, you are one of my heros -- I hope when I grow up to be a mom I can be just like you!

Your hair color is great, if mine would go that pretty...I think I like the idea of a year's supply of hair color!

I do hope your dad is doing well.
Happy Mother's Year!

I love my Mom, but I would be MORTIFIED if someone said I looked like her or that we looked like sisers. I would cry huge tears.

And your Mom looks like a fiesty thing!

Don't you dare dye your hair brown..I love it just the way it is. I have often thought when you have posted photos of your mom, that you LOOK JUST LIKE HER.
I loved her sense of humor "guess which one is the mother". LOVE THAT.
I hope your dad is doing well.

I'm trying really hard not to smile right now!! ;-) So sorry you are your Mom's Mom!! ;-) It's not all bad, at least you know how you'll look in a few years...pretty darn good!! That should bring a smile to your face.

Hope all is well with your Dad!!

I think that is a cute little story! What a complement for your mom, having some one think she is younger than she is!!! ;)
You do look like your mom and she looks great! I hope every thing is good with your dad!

That is so funny - And I love how your mom was right on top of that one with her comment!! I bet she really enjoyed that even if you didnt.

My husband looks really young and always has - I told him my great fear is that one day someone is going to ask me if I'm his mother.

Love the pictures!
