How Smart is Your Phone?

A few weeks ago we changed from T-Mobile to Verizon because our daughter, Jeanette, works for Verizon and could get us a smokin' deal on the service.  She talked me in to getting a Smart Phone with the data plan.

Last week I had to deliver some things to a near-by city.  I had the address and figured I knew where it was.  After driving around for 15 minutes in a futile attempt to find the street, I remembered my phone and called the number to the place and asked how to get there.  The woman who answered asked where I was, then told me where to go (you know what I mean). None of her directions got me to my destination.  It was getting dark and I knew I'd be in big trouble if I didn't find it soon.  I was beginning to think I needed some divine intervention and then it occurred to me that my Smart phone could help me find it!  Duh!! I checked it out on map quest and found the place!
Welcome to the 21st Century, Connie!

I discovered the voice feature on my phone and have been using it to type texts and emails.  However, the texts don't always match what I say.  For instance, I snapped a picture of the beautiful flowers in the back of my car that we were transporting to Rexburg for Camille's wedding openhouse.  I sent it to Andy with the message, "Can we fit these AND all the cupcakes in the truck?"  It came out "1015 at cupcakes in the truck?"

The next text was with a picture of everything packed in the back of the truck.  I said, "Everything's tucked in nicely!"  It typed, "Everything text in my sleep!"

Sent an email to a woman in our ward to see if she got her visitng teaching done.  I said, "You able to see your ladies this month?"  It typed, "We able to see your dating this month?"

Maybe I should take the gum out of my mouth before speaking.

SNorT!
Connie, that is called "auto correct" and it is hilarious.

My name auto corrects to tsunami.
Appropriate I think.

I have learned to read my texts before I send them, I've gotten in trouble a couple of times.

The reception was beautiful and it was so great to see you.
You are so gorgeous.

The bride was beautiful and the cupcakes were tasty.
Delicious!

Hope you travel home safely!
Pretty excited about the apricot jam by the way.

I have one of those old fashioned phones--guess I need to join the 21st Century, too ; ) And I could NEVER use anything voice activated--I've always talked like I have a mouth full of mush.

Love the messages.

That is too funny. I think you should just keep sending those voice texts and see what you come up with next!

Hey Connie,
That is pretty funny. I bet you could keep lots of people guessing. They might think you have spent too long in the Sp. Ed department. :)

That is all Way to confusing to me. I do not text. (actually, I don't even have a cell phone anymore...let alone a SMART PHONE. Hubby has a cell phone, that we only use when we go out on the road. Man, we are sooooo no in touch with this high tech world we live in.
That is crazy though that it gets your messages all mixed up. Could be pretty funny I bet.

That auto correct can either be funny or extremely annoying :-D

I don't think my phone is that smart to voice text... or maybe it is me that isn't that smart :-).

Ha ha... I totally love this post. Sums it all up perfectly. I have had a dumb "smart" phone for awhile now and I still can't figure the darn thing out! :) Can't wait to see you guys in a week!

Too funny!

Nope... my phone's not smart at all. It's old fashioned... like it's owner.

How fun to have some features on that phone to get you to where you need to go though !

This was so funny. :) I have an IPhone and even though I've mastered the use of it (I think) the things it automatically fills in on my texts are many times waaaay not what I meant! blessings, marlene

hehehehehe.... and HALLELUJIAH, CONNIE! your blog's letting me comment! it's practically a Christmas miracle! my husband's got a smart phone, that seriously if it were to take the SATs, would come out with a perfect score, and would get college for 100% free. :) my phone however is non-smart. no lie, my phone takes the short bus. perhaps santa will have a new, half-as-smart-as-my-husband's phone in my stocking. ::fingers crossed::

p.s. btw, i have a Christmas card here with your name on it, in desperate need of an address so it can hop in the mail to your place. :)

::hugs::

Mine does the same thing...I'm talking about the changing my words up. But no matter. I usually send them to my daughter, she totally stunderands me even if I don't say a thing.
