Simple Treasures Are The Best and Story@Home Giveaway!! Winner!

Many years ago, when I was feeling like I could conquer the world, I announced that I was going to make a history book of my Grandpa and Grandma Hansen's family.

Mae and Arthur Hansen

I contacted all 10 of their children (my uncles and aunts) and 60+ cousins and asked them to submit a family history and a recent family photo.  Reality hit about two months in to the project when only a third of the family had submitted histories and I was already overwhelmed with the daunting task.   Although the history book was a futile attempt, I acquired a great treasure from my 95 year old Grandmother.  She sent to me her life history, hand-written on notebook paper and "bound" with two pieces of brown yarn.  That was so much like Grandma!

How I love these 10 pages filled with snippets of her life and presented in her own special way.

We all have stories to tell.  How do you present your story?  No matter how you tell your stories, someone is going to want to hear them.
I'm so excited for the Story@Home that is being held March 9th and 10th.  This conference will be filled with workshops, performances, and presenters that will help us explore ways to use the power of story in our home! It all takes place in beautiful Salt Lake City.

This conference is sponsored by Cherish Bound and Family Search.  It will be the "In" place to be this March.  You'll be Informed, Inspired, Intrigued and Involved!
Grab a friend, a sister, a mother, a daughter and come, participate and enjoy!
For more information go here.
Now for the exciting part!  I have a full conference ticket to give away to one lucky reader!           If you aren't able to go, perhaps you know of someone who would love to attend and you could be totally awesome and gift this ticket to them!

To enter this giveaway, just leave a comment. Giveaway is now closed.
The Winner is Natalie!!!

Love that history by your grandma! I try every year to get updated pictures from my siblings to make a book or calendar for my parents. I usually get responses for about 1/3 of them. Grr! Hope you get more info soon!

I love this post. Not necessarily because of the giveaway, that's just the bonus, but because of the story your grandmother put together. I had the most wonderful relationship with my grandmother. She was my mother, my friend and my teacher. What more could one ask for. We would go to movies together, go shopping, cook, etc...together. I miss her terribly and wish I would have had her do what your grandmother did. I do have a couple of her journals and some other things. Maybe I will have to write her story for her.

Handwritten!? What a treasure!
That reminds me that I have my grandma's "journals". They are written on little calendar things but there are words in there. I need to go retype them and make make a book for my family. Grandma just passed away a couple of weeks ago.

Sign me up for the tickets!!!
Oh wait, I am already going. But I bet my daughter would like to go!

Please enter me! I am hoping to get together with many of the ladies attending.. but didn't buy a ticket.. so I hope to go!

I will head to FB and like it too!

Chad and I did the same thing you did -- and even though we haven't put the book together yet.. I think we were inspired to get the stories and histories while we could-- before people had passed away, lost their memories.. etc.

I hope even if I don't go to the Conference.. I will get to see you again!

I love that your grandmother sent you her story, handwritten, and bound with string. What a sweet treasure to keep forever.

I wanted to come to this conference so much, but it is just too much for me to travel up there right now... plus I'm taking my daughter to see Wicked that weekend... so don't enter me into your drawing, but I would have liked to have won it if I could have come!

Looks like we have to attend conferences miles away from our neighboring towns to see each other!

Love that your grandma did her own publishing! So cute!

What a treasure from your grandma, and a gift your family will enjoy for many years to come.
Looks like the place to be in March, as I have read about this on a few blogs. A little to far for me to travel.

I love reading stories about my family members. My aunt and uncle did something similar for my grandparents and I tell ya, I cherish the small books we have.

Connie,
I attempted to leave a message before, but I'm technically challenged! Impressed with your efforts in compiling family history info! I'm attempting to do the same. I'd love you go. Best of luck to me!

I think hearing back from 1/3 of your family with life stories was not too shabby. Still, I can see how you would want them all. That's priceless what your Grandma sent!

Oh how I wish they would offer a Stay@Home seminar here in Calif! That sounds like my kind of fun! Totally. I hope someone takes great notes and shares what they learn.

This is one of the best giveaways I've ever seen!
