Cooking Tip

I went to the Taste of Home Cooking School last night.  Lots of fun, prizes, good food and great recipes.
Here's a tip I learned last night.

After cutting an apple, pour 7-Up over the top to keep it from turning brown.  You can chop the apples in the morning then use in a salad or other recipe in the evening and they will still be fresh!  Other lemon-lime drinks don't work - just 7-Up.

My giveaway ends tonight at midnight and the winners will be announced on April Fools Day!

What a great tip! I will definately use this to keep sliced apples for snacking! Oh and by the way, Spring did arrive on GrannyMountain yesterday with temps in the 70's...finally!

Connie, that's an excellent tip. I guess there is enough citrus in the 7up to do the trick! Thanks!

Sweet! I've honestly always wondered if there was ever a way to prevent them from browning! I'm going to the store today and trying this! I'm really hoping it works! :) You are always full of useful information! I love reading this blog! :) I gotta figure out how to add yours and Camille's buttons!

Help...I can't find your button! Do you have one? Or just Camille? I did add you though as a follower. I figured that much out! :) Maybe I need to come get blogging lessons from you!

I love this tip!! When I am being good and healthy I try to take an apple in my lunch everyday. It's cut up so I can eat it while driving from house to house. It's always brown - but still good. I think I'd like to try this - it might make it a little bit more appetizing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

I hate how a lemon changes the flavor of the apple. I wonder if the 7-up does too? I would guess NO!! Excellent cooking tip! Thanks for sharing!
