Twit Contest!

If you're a parent of more than one child, or, if you have a sibling close in age, you may know what a twit contest is all about. It starts out as fun and games; some laughing, some teasing, laughing/half-crying, more teasing, pushing, wrestling, throwing, laughing, mom telling children to stop. More teasing, more chasing, mom announces, "Take it outside and don't you come crying to me when you get hurt!"  There's more silliness then...BOOM! It happens!  Someone gets hurt. There are tears, blood, bruises, and bumps.  Someone yells, "I'm Sorry!", while following the victim who goes wailing to Mom, expecting comfort and understanding.    Mom asks, "Are you happy, now?"

(David, 25 years ago after being hit in the eye with a dirt clod during a twit contest with his brother.)

It doesn't change.  Twit Contests are the same throughout the ages!

Poor Mr. Cy!  He is NOT happy now!  Can you guess by the goose egg on his forehead, who DIDN'T win the twit contest?

I witnessed many of these growing up(two older brothers), and I have a feeling I'll witness many more as my munchkins grow up. Not looking forward to it. I suppose as long as there are no emergency room trips I'll survive.

Oh how well I remember twit contests. The E.R. knew me well from some onf those contest results. I just didn't know the name until today.

"It's all fun and games, until somebody pokes an eye out."
That was the saying around our house when I was a kid, and the same saying that I used with my kids !
So far, all of our kids still have both of their eyes :)

My brother and I once got into a physical fight. I think I was like 14!! I am hardcore.

I love your title for this kind of family "fun"!

Gotta love sibling rivalry! With my kids being 8 years apart in age and how they know how to push each others buttons, there are weekly TWIT contests in our home.

Not too many times have they ended with someone getting physically hurt, but there have been plenty of tears.

SO glad to hear other families aren't perfect all the time either.

Love the priceless photo of David! Enjoy your last day of the holiday weekend and I hope you have a wonderful week!!

What goes around comes around to little boy's boys, too.

My mom always would threaten with 'the curse.'

Just wait, little brothers have a way of growing up and sometimes out grow the older brother as in the case of our sons and pay back is...

My brothers haven't grown out of those---they're in the 30s now. Does it ever stop?

I think I'd rather have the goose-egg than the title of the "twit".
Although, both involved are officially twits, aren't they? :)

I've never heard of "twit contests", but I certainly understand the concept.

I didn't know that was what that game was!
Sheesh if I'd have known all those long years ago that they were playing games instead of trying to kill each other within an inch of their lives I wouldn't have stopped them.

So true. This post brought back many a memory...maybe not so good memories?!

However, the pictures still brought a smile to my face!! :-) Is that bad?!

I won (and lost) a fair number of twit games as a kid myself. Ah, sibling rivalry!

I have never heard it called a twit contest, but love the name. Since we have at least one of these every few days. Mine always sit on the couch feet to feet pushing each other. Never fails someone gets kicked!
