Grandparents Day at Kindergarten

The Corbanator sent me an invitation to come to his kindergarten class for Grandparents Day.  I was to be there for all 3 hours!  I couldn't imagine what the grandparents would be doing for all that time.  Since Corban is very active, inquisitive and verbal, I also wondered if it was only HIS grandparents who were invited!

His other grandma, Grandma Nina, who was my friend before she became my son's MIL, attended too.  We had a great time!  It was fun to see how the teacher taught.   The hours flew by (kinda) and we were involved with the children doing art projects, writing, counting, reading and watching a program put on by the students.

The one thing I was waiting for that never happened was snack.  When did they do away with that?  I remember taking naps in kindergarten but that was 100 years ago.  Things change.  These kids are so busy learning, they don't have time to eat or take naps!
Corban, thanks for the fun morning!

Sounds awesome. Although I don't think I could think of stuff to entertain grandparents for 3 hours in my class. Brave teachers.

No naps? That was the best thing about kindergarten!

Sounds like a wonderful day in kindergarten. So nice for the Corbanator to have both grandmas there. Did you notice much of a difference between regular kindergarten and TK :)

I can't believe they didn't even feed you. That is craziness. Glad you had fun though. What a cute grandson.

3 HOURS! Wow - it does look like it ended up with plenty of things to do and lots of fun, and thank goodness you could go. I think he'll always remember it!

Kindergarten is supposed to be all about graham crackers. What's up with that? I too took a "nap" at school about 100 years ago. Mimi

That must have been so fun for you.

If you were in Kindergarten 100 years ago, I must have been there 200 years ago ; ) I know it has changed so much--we pretty much played, ATE, and took naps and that was about it.

What a fun day. When I taught K we always had snack. The kids loved it and so did I. It was a nice break for them.

Snacktime; they've done away with that?

Ya! What's up with that? I remember graham crackers, milk and naps too. I am SO glad I am NOT in kindergarten anymore. Sheesh!

I'm with you - snack time and pulling out my nap-mat were the highlights of kindergarten!

Sounds like a fun day.

Guess what happened to me on my very first Grandparents' Day?! I had a baby! I guess that's what happens when you have 12 kids...

no snacks??? We need to write our senators about that.
How wonderful that you got to share that with your grandson. Living far away now as I do, I miss out on those fun times.
Dang.

When Inigo was in Kindergarten (a mere 2 years ago) I contributed to the 'snack cabinet' on a regular basis. But there were NO NAPS!! Sadly. I would have gone to help in class every day if there had been a nap time.
