Who Has the Right of Way?

Many of you know that I went to China last June for 2 weeks.  It was a marvelous experience, filled with the culture, smells, sounds, ands sights of China. With over 22 million people in Beijing, the traffic was astounding.  I was grateful that we had our own personal driver and I didn't need to drive, however, being a pedestrian was an adventure on its own.  Pedestrians do NOT have the right of way.
This short video was taken in one of the large intersections in Beijing.  We were half way across, standing under an over-pass when I started recording.  We had the green light.

I'm reminded of a line from the movie, "Elf" when Buddy said, "Watch out, the yellow ones don't stop!"

Oh my goodness!
So are there many pedestrians killed or injured often? Some of those cars look soo close! Yikes!

If auto's were that close here.. there would be sooo many birds.. and I'm not talking about ones that fly...

I wonder if bikes have the right of way ; )

I think I would google wherever I had to go and make sure I rarely had to cross a street.

Love the coming of spring.

CRAZY!!! That would drive me crazy. I'm afraid I would be so tempted to throw my shoe at the cars or something like that.

China!? That looks like a lot of intersections around here where we DO have crosswalks. I am amazed at the people that won't stop.

Maybe people can wear magnetic clothing so they could get free rides. Just lean in and attach to the vehicle going your way. They won't stop to see who hitched a ride anyway.

Yikes - dangerous! Kind of like NYC only in Chinese. I've wanted to go there for awhile now - it's such a fascinating place with so much history!

Crazy! Makes me happy to live in a small town. No stop lights.... and the only traffic jam that we have is around noon when everyone goes to the post office to pick up their mail :)
Have a great weekend !
