A Question For You

A local man won a million dollars this week by getting a hole-in-one! His son goes to our school. (all the teachers are expecting a nice Christmas gift from this student) A few of my co-workers and I were discussing the possibilities of winning that amount of money and a question came up.

If you won a million dollars, would you quit your job? There were differences of opinion.

So, now, I'm asking you...if you won a million dollars would you quit your job?

If I won a million dollars, I would pay off my debt, buy a new car (since all of our cars have over 200,00 miles) and I my hubby and I would invest the majority of the rest of the money and we would live frugally the rest of our lives so instead of going to a job, we could freely give of our time to help others in need!

Thanks for helping me ponder on what I value in life!! Have a wonderful evening and a great Friday!!

BTW...I would love to know your tips or recipe for how you can tomato soup. Do you water bath or pressure cook?

I don't have a job but my hubby would DEFINITELY retire. In a few years when he's released from his present calling, papers would be submitted for missions.

The money would go in the bank and we'd live on what we have saved plus the interest.

Somewhere there would have been to be another GREAT family vacation with THE WHOLE FAMILY.

Well, I am a SAHM, so I can't quit my job (and I wouldn't want to either!). For my husband though, that is tougher. I would love to have him at home more, but I know he would probably get pretty bored, so I don't know that he would quit his job. He might consider moving to a part time job though.
A million dollars isn't as much as it used to be. Plus, with taxes and such, that takes a big chunk out of it. I'd love to have a million dollars with the requirement that I have to spend it on other people. That would be great fun!

Yes! I would purchase a couple of houses on some land. Have my brother and family come and live in one of them. We would live frugally off the land and have cows/horses/chickens... the whole thing. I would love to become a foster mom and have lots of children in that home. New Suburban to cart them all around while encouraging them to be all they could be. To me that would be pure heaven to touch the lives of children in need. I'd do it in a heartbeat. I will become a foster mom in a couple of years when Brady is off on his mission and I am all alone in this house. What a fun thing to dream about...

My coworker and I were just having this conversation! He said that even if he won the lottery, he loves his job so much he wouldn't quit.

I love my job, but if I had a choice to work or not, it would be NOT!

My husband and I would both quit our jobs. We would still work, but just become self employed doing something we really LOVE to do. I would probably do photography and Brian would probably do landscape/lawn care.

I would give half of it to you and then the two of us would start a business together where we would make even more money. And then I would buy a huge house and lots of fancy things, and...

Yeah, I would probably quit.

I can't quit my job :)
But I would build a little house for my mom and dad on the front part of our property so they would live closer to me. They don't want to live with me but they would consider living near me.
Hey thanks for asking. Happy weekend.

I don't think I would quit...but that's probly cuz I'm only 25 and sadly enough, a million dollars may not be enough to live off for the rest of my life after I pay off a home and such. Plus---what would I do with all that time?

I would, however, take a KILLER vacation definitely involves first class. I've ALWAYS wanted to fly first class!

If I won a million dollars I'd buy a pair of shoes for each of our children.....then, if there was any money left, I'd get a nice MLT....you know....mutton, lettuce, & tomatoe....where the mutton is REAL LEAN.

Yes! I already tried to quit once this week, without a million dollars! But the family wouldn't hear of it, so I guess I'll stick around...:)Someone's gotta do the dishes and the laundry!
I would, however, take a nice long vacation!

Hi Connie! You can pick your choice of any prints from what Janet has on her Etsy or go to her blog and look through many prints. She said she could special order any of her paintings if she can get them in the 11x14. So just pick which one you like to have for an 11x14 size print then let Janet know on her blog http://www.janethillstudio.blogspot.com/ which one. If for some reason she can't special order one because of size she will let you know. She will need your name and address to send it to you. She said congratulations to you and Leslie on the win. :) If wanted just pick which one you like, let me know and I will give Janet all the info. You can e-mail me at whimsybyvictoria@cableone.net I hope this all made sense! :)

Hugs to you,
~Victoria~

I would quit my job, and take a lower paying job that I really loved. Like at a scrapbook store or something!

Ya, I would quit! Then I would work prn and if they called me to work a shift in the ER I'd think about it and then maybe I would say yes. I would love NOT to have that kind of stress.
I would buy a cabin somewhere in the mountains and get a cow and some chickens and watch a garden grow, the sunrise and RELAX.
Now, I need to quit dreaming so I can get up at 0-dark-thirty and go to work for 12 hours!
Hugs!

Hmmm....if I won a million, after all these years of schooling to do what I'm doing...it still would be tempting to quit!! I'd probably work part-time, like 9-12 Mon through Thurs and then travel. Oh, to have the choice of not working - it would be interesting!
