Solution: This little popcorn cob is magic! This was bought at a Farmer's Fruit Stand for 33 cents!
Place it in a brown lunch bag, fold the top of the bag over and secure with a piece of tape.
Place in microwave on the popcorn setting or on high until the popping slows down. When you open the bag, this is how it looks.

OK, this makes perfect sense that you could pop a cob, but this is awesome!
We only air pop.
Only one thing wrong--"add a little butter" You mean "a lot of butter", don't you??? I LOVE POPCORN. That looks like the perfect gift.
We buy Scout popcorn every year.
What? Are you sure you didn't just add some Jiffy Pop to the bag?? :)
Actually, I was there. I saw. I partook. And it was delicious - with a lot of butter and salt!
Connie that is so neat!
Foolish me read your blog with my mouth open because I never even knew you could pop a cob! ha ha
It's like you know popcorn comes from..."corn" but you never really think about it.
Now I totally want to do this.
And YES I wish I was your neighbor :D
Wow, that is cool!
We usually pop ours on the stove top, but I bet my kids would think popping it on the cob was great!
Very awesome! We love popcorn and what a great gift idea!
haha love how the cob looks with the popped kernals still attached!
YUMMY!! We are popcorn lovers as well (I have some yummy popcorn recipes on my Blog you might enjoy).
Anyway, what a FUN activity for kids!! Thanks for sharing this as I LOVE FUN and unique ideas of creative things to do with my kids. My 7 and 15 year old would think this is so neat and cool.
I wish I had time to run to town and grab some corn and we could do this for an FHE treat tonight.
You are such a FUN person and I really enjoy your blog! Have a wonderful day!
Connie, you are so smart! How did you know to do that? Is that corn dried out? You've got such a precious little pop corn eater at your table. I want to be your neighbor too!
Really? I had no idea you could do this. Now I know what we're doing tonight!
Guessing you have to leave the corn out for a few days to dry? A fresh cob does not work. Looks yummy, hopefully I can figure it out!!
LOL Must try!
Just to be sure you understand that this is not just corn on the cob. It IS popcorn and it's last years crop because it needs to dry for a while!
Get to a Farmer's Market and get some. You'll love it!
How cool is that? I totally want to try it now.
My Chad is a popcorn lover too, and I will for sure try this!!
Yummy!!!
That is amazing. Wow! I'm glad you clarified that it was last years corn on the cob - I was trying to figure out how a fresh corn on the cob would do that.
I want some... can I be your next door neighbor - LOL! I guess it is off to the farmers market this weekend.
Very cool idea - I loved all the pop corn still attached to the cob.
I posted about making jam finally. It is on my interior design junkie, the link is at the bottom of todays post.
What a bargin for popcorn. Will have to hit the farmers market near our house soon.
I just googled "popcorn and lung disease" because I was really worried since we eat so much popcorn, but it looks like it was linked to the flavoring in Microwave popcorn and so that makes me happy...because I don't use microwave popcorn...I just cook plain popcorn the old fashioned way...on the stove in oil.
I'm just glad I won't have to give it up all together.
I wish we had a farmers market near us so I could get some cobs and dry them to try this with my kids. I know they will LOVE IT!!
Did I see Jiffy Pop????? I don't think we've ever made that with the kids. BUT enough about Jiffy pop.....These corn cobs are great!!! And seriously, giving them to friends and neighbors at Christmas is a great idea.
We have a large garden, and I'm wishing we would have planted this corn. I sure hope I remember this next year.
Have a great day.
Sandra
OH...p.s.
"Crazy if someone wouldn't like apricot jam." You've got lucky neighbors.
